Austria has a very advanced social security system and offers benefits such as a pension contribution, unemployment insurance, maternity leave and free access to public healthcare for everyone. Receiving your monthly salary 14 x per year sounds too good to be true? No, it is not. In Vienna, day care for children under the age of six years is free! The school system as such is also free of charge, though there are options available for private and international schools too. The choice is yours, and not dependant on the district you live in.
Vienna it the world’s greenest city. In fact, Parks and green areas make up almost 50% of the city. Vienna is a major capital city surrounded by the Wiener Wald (Vienna Forest) and thus offers the best of both worlds: living in a city with a huge variety of cultural events, museums, restaurants and theatres, but is also only a 15-minute train ride away from mountains, hiking trails (some of them are even within the city boundaries!), local vineyards and lots of other outdoor activities.
Together with a professional external trainer, PlanRadar regularly offers in-house German classes for all our international colleagues.
As well as rent, other living expenses such as groceries, restaurants and bills are generally lower than in other big European cities.
Living in Vienna is very affordable, especially compared to capital cities like London, Berlin, Madrid or Paris, where the cost for living in a shared house can be compared to renting an entire apartment in Vienna.
Vienna is a safe city. Even at night, you can walk around the city alone and still feel safe.
Vienna offers a great subway, tram and bus network at an affordable rate: for €365 per year, you can travel all over Vienna using all types of public transport.
