Snagging is the process of inspecting a construction project and identifying issues, which are known as snags. Snags can include poor workmanship, the use of the wrong material or incomplete work. In some cases, snagging surveys can also find bigger issues that might breach building regulations. All snags should be added to a snagging list. Depending on the particular contract, the developer or contractor is then responsible for repairing snags.
The most common snags are caused by low quality or rushed workmanship. These issues include chipped or messy paintwork, missing grout or small elements that haven’t been installed properly. For instance, a socket might not be properly secured to the wall or a pipe could leak once you start to use it regularly.
