The ASHE (American Society for Healthcare Engineering) Annual Conference is always a hive of informative and thought-provoking discussions. PlanRadar was fortunate to have participated in the 2023 event with our new client and partner Oncore, where we delved into the digital transformation of healthcare compliance, highlighting real-life user experiences and technological solutions at play.

Robert “Bob” Booth, Senior Healthcare/Infectious Disease and Prevention Consultant at Oncore, has witnessed first-hand the transformation underway. With more than 30 years healthcare compliance experience, Bob previously served as Federal Compliance Officer for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and advised over 1000 private, governmental, and military healthcare organizations including the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense.

Previously using traditional documentation methods, he described his transition to the digital realm: “I documented deficiencies when I went into a healthcare facility… just like most of us do, old-school, writing on paper.” Then he encountered PlanRadar.

Bob highlighted the seamless offline functionality of PlanRadar, its ease of use, and the significant boost in productivity.  Bob noted how the platform allows him to “touch things one time” and have instant access to all data. For instance, during a global fire drill, PlanRadar enabled Bob to document deficiencies such as a blocked fire extinguisher in just seconds.

He further shared the benefit of real-time tracking: “When I took this over to Okinawa, I was sitting behind the Joint Commission surveyor… documenting the things that the surveyor found, completing it in real-time.” The platform’s capability to provide immediate digital reports and customizable checklists made it particularly valuable for Bob. For him, the game-changer is the ability to manage hospital compliance projects remotely.

Jeff Jensen, of PlanRadar, Americas, then provided a detailed overview of PlanRadar’s features and capabilities. It’s an intuitive app crafted for digitally monitoring and rectifying compliance and safety challenges in healthcare establishments. Its flexible design ensures compatibility with any internet-connected gadget, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or PC. The software heralds the digital transformation in healthcare by offering a digital replacement for manual recording processes.

The discussion spotlighted PlanRadar’s three prime benefits:

1. Accessibility: Whether online or offline, PlanRadar ensures you can track and view data anywhere, any time. This is a boon, especially for those managing multiple facilities spread out geographically.

2. Customizability: The tool is not a one-size-fits-all; it adapts to your workflows, terms, and standards, essentially mirroring your processes digitally.

3. Ease of Use: Quick setup and intuitive interface ensure swift onboarding, swift adoption and immediate utility.

The talk concluded by emphasizing PlanRadar’s stringent security measures, such as its audit trail, GDPR and ISO adherence, as well as premier customer support and efficient reporting capabilities that turn raw data into actionable insights. Ultimately, PlanRadar stands out not just as a software tool, but as an innovative instrument propelling healthcare compliance into the digital era.
